Actor Raúl Arévalo’s directorial debut, Tarde para la ira (The Fury of a Patient Man), won four Goya awards.
In this dark journey to hell, two men love the same woman. After eight years in prison, one yearns to be reunited with his wife and has a very short fuse. The other is also driven by rage, but he is chillingly slow and calculating in his revenge. Arévalo allows the locations and character actors to speak for themselves, uses raw 16mm film, and appears to be genuinely interested in Spanish psychology.
