Imarhan, which means "the ones I care about" in the Tamasheq language, is the new revelation of Tuareg music. That same evening, Sons of Kemet, one of the most original ensembles in Britain's recent jazz history, will also perform at Feeërieën.
Not to miss at Feeërieën: Imarhan + Sons of Kemet
And you can't mention Tuareg without thinking of the band Tinariwen. The DNA of both bands is literally intertwined: the face of Imarhan, Sadam, is the cousin of the Tinariwen bassist Eyadou Ag Leche, who also produced the album and co-wrote several of its songs. There is no heavy distortion on Imarhan's guitars because these young rebels prefer to blend funky grooves with the deep blues of the Sahara, peppered sporadically with a pinch of Algerian raï. That same evening, Sons of Kemet, one of the most original ensembles in Britain's recent jazz history, will also perform at Feeërieën. They perform a mix of jazz, Afrobeat, New Orleans vibes, and Caribbean folk full of trance-like grooves.
