Star Trek Beyond

The Star Trek series was in its death throes when director J.J. Abrams (Mission: Impossible III, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) presented a reboot in 2009 that was bursting with tension and excitement. Four years later, the sequel Star Trek: Into Darkness was also a success.

The question now is whether the sci-fi series is strong enough to survive without J.J. Abrams. He has handed the wheel to Justin Lin, who was responsible for turning the Fast & Furious series into a cash cow. A disappointment would be embarrassing because 2016 is a big anniversary.
