WEKELIJKS OP ZONDAGAVOND

Monstera Occulta (re)immersed herself body and soul in Arabic music around ten years ago.
Each song is like a return to her origins, to the music she heard as a child.
Born to a Belgian mother and a Moroccan father, she grew up listening to Nass El Ghiwane and Oum Kalthoum.

Today, oscillating between nostalgia for the great Lebanese singers such as Fairuz and the psychedelic sounds of Baba Zula, she shares her musical explorations with both novice and initiated ears. In her mixes, she also likes to slip in little nods to belly dance music and Yma Sumac, of whom she is an assiduous collector.
