MUSEUMS/ Come Back

The museums in Brussels have spent the past six months working their socks off to offer solace to our eyes, first virtually and physically again since 18 May. But major events like Museum Night Fever have continued to be put on ice. Brussels Museums is aiming to fill up that black hole with COME BACK. Spread across four days and forty museums, they are offering a range of small but exquisite events, from gazing into the sparkling eyes of Pieter De Buysser at the Planetarium to seeing the animals from the “Zoo” exhibition come to life at the MIMA. PODIUM/ Lisbeth Gruwez & Claire Chevalier

Le dialogue entre la chorégraphe et danseuse Lisbeth Gruwez et la pianiste Claire Chevalier sur des pièces extraites des Préludes et des Estampes de Claude Debussy crée des paysages en mouvement, un espace flottant entre danse et musique. C’est une danse débarrassée de tout superflu qui joue avec les mouvements qui naissent et ceux qui ne finissent pas et qui puise dans l’improvisation pour chercher à atteindre l’essence du geste. Comme dans une aquarelle où la quantité d’eau modifie autant les couleurs que leur profondeur.

CONCERT/ High Hi

Hun nieuwe album Firepool kwam uit op vrijdag 13 maart, net voor ons land in lockdown ging. Maar toch heeft corona High Hi geen windeieren gelegd. Het Leuvense trio, dat in 2016 zilver haalde op Humo’s Rock Rally, ruilde zijn indiegitaargeluid in voor meer elektronische klanktapijten en tankte inspiratie bij Fleetwood Mac en Arcade Fire. Het leverde hen prompt een breder publiek en een al bij al aardige festivalzomer op.

FILM/ On the rocks

Not only Netflix is conquering the silver screen. Apple TV+ is releasing On the Rocks, the new film by Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette) at Cinema Palace, three weeks before the film’s debut on the streaming channel. The film is a Woody Allen-type romantic comedy in which an author suspects that her husband is cheating and recruits her father (Bill Murray) who comes up with the craziest plans to discover the truth.

EAT&DRINK/ Nona Pasta

Als nieuwe, hippe zaak treedt Nona Pasta in de voetsporen van grote broer Nona Pizza. Het etablissement is onberispelijk, de kaart duidelijk afgelijnd. De pasta is bio en wordt ter plaatse bereid, de groenten komen onder meer van Le Monde des Mille Couleurs, de in Dikkebus (Ieper) gelegen boerderij van aardetovenaar Dries Delanote. En elke zitplaats, een teken van strikte gehoorzaamheid aan de Italiaanse gebruiken, biedt slechts plaats aan één couvert. Een vork en basta? Exact!
