Before the lockdown, Brussels had six reputable breweries. It is crucial that that should still be the case after the epidemic. Here are four good suggestions for ways to enjoy a pint (in moderation).

Brasserie de la Senne
Credit where credit is due. The Brasserie de la Senne is undeniably the Brussels brewery that restored beer in the capital to its former glory. It is, without a doubt, a model success story. Unfortunately, this health crisis came at a bad time for Bernard Leboucq and Yvan De Baets: their financial situation was precarious due to the substantial investments that had gone into their imminent relocation to Tour & Taxis.
It is vital, therefore, that all fans of Zinnebir, Taras Boulba, etc. mobilise, especially since the duo have always refused on principle to get involved with the big supermarkets. Good news: the “Senne” delivers orders that include at least a box of 24 bottles (you can make your choice on the brewery's web store) to the nineteen boroughs of Brussels by van. Concerned about CO2? The two brewers have a partnership with Jeroen Verhoeven of Bicy Klet, an enthusiast who is making deliveries by bicycle.

1705 BIER DELIVERY en stoemelings

En Stoemelings
Always on the ball, this brewery reacted to the situation very quickly, and with style too. They have organised a delivery service by bicycle with the help of two partners (Dioxyde de gambettes and Mabool). En Stoemelings also delivers by van to the boroughs around Flemish and Walloon Brabant.
You can order two different types of boxes containing 24 bottles. One is 100% “Made in Laeken”, an in-house pack (€45) that includes, subject to availability, the great En Stoemelings classics: Curieuse Neus, Vogelpik, Papy Vandepils, etc. The other option (€50) takes a cooperative approach. It offers a selection entitled “Le bac des amis”, which also includes beers by brewers such as No Science, Brussels Beer Project, and the Brasserie de la Senne. In a public-spirited initiative, there is an option of buying a “DoucheFlux” voucher to give homeless people access to a shower.

1705 BIER DELIVERY cantillon

Cantillon
Cantillon, the historic brewery, is the lifeblood of Brussels. For a long time, it was the last surviving one in the capital. In short, it's a genuine unparalleled miracle that encapsulates a part of the city's gastronomic heritage. Due to the exceptional circumstances, Jean Van Roy, who manages this family business, has set up a delivery system, which comes as a total surprise, as the company's web store has only ever featured spin-off products.
It's worth noting, however, that you cannot order whatever and whenever you like: you have to earn your delivery. Once a week, their selection of Geuze/Gueuze beers (packs containing a mix of “gueuze”, “kriek”, “framboise”, and a Saint-Gilles/Sint-Gillis selection, in honour of the football club Union) is posted online once a week, so you have to act fast. The delivery is made by van the following week.

Malt Attacks2

Malt Attacks
To complete your taste of Brussels by adding a few delights from the surrounding areas or from further afield, it's worth mentioning an initiative by Malt Attacks, a shop which offers anyone a chance to try a wide range of beers.
Antoine Pierson updates the mouth-watering Excell list on his website every morning. It features local products that are not delivered by the breweries that produce them (“Bruxellensis” by the Brasserie de la Senne, for example, a type of Orval “the way it was 30 years ago”), rare Belgian beers (such as Saison d'Erpe-Mere by Glazen Toren, in our opinion the best Saison in the country and, thus, possibly in the world), and other gems such as “Witgoud” by Hof ten Dormaal, a beer from Tildonk that combines hops and chicory root. It can all be collected onsite (using a safe procedure) or delivered to your home (if you live in one of the nineteen boroughs of Brussels).
