“Pure cinema.” That is how Paul Thomas Anderson describes this documentary that dives into the intimacy of a sow with a dozen piglets.

The film star of his masterpiece The Master, Joaquin Phoenix, is if possible even more enthusiastic about the contemplative, poetic work of the Russian Viktor Kosakovskiy. Just like Alfonso Cuarón, Gus Van Sant or Lynne Ramsay.

Without sentiment and without the terrible habit of humanising animals, Kosakovskiy immerses you in the farm life of the increasingly heavyset piglets and their mother with beautiful black-and-white compositions and a sophisticated soundtrack. An excellent offer.
