Publisher, designer, and artist Thierry Van Hasselt is one of FRMK’s founding members and main comic book artists. And when you say FRMK, you say publishing house extraordinaire of independent, innovative, inquisitive, and simply brilliant comics. So it should come as no surprise that Thierry Van Hasselt is investing his great passion for diversity of materials and narrative qualities of images in a project that exceeds the boundaries of regular comic book art. Electronic Unplugged combines Thierry Van Hasselt’s “moving paintings” with an improvised soundtrack by Bristophe, a duo of multi-instrumentalists (Brice Catherin and Christophe Schweizer) eager to take to the stage. The Electronic Unplugged concert was part of the Electron Festival in Geneva last year, and is played on acoustic instruments, toys, and whatever comes within reach, that sound as if they are electronic. Cinéma Nova is now offering the trio a stage for another session of their thoroughly atmospheric sound and vision.

18/5, 20.00, €3,50/5, Cinéma Nova, rue d’Arenbergstraat 3, Brussel/Bruxelles,
