Jeudi Jardin
The Schuman/Maelbeek area is just a workplace for eurocrats, right? Think again. Every Thursday, all year round, Jeudi Jardin is a very lively European food and drink market in the Maelbeek Gardens. And it's a very popular spot to enjoy lunch in the sun or an apéro after work.

Le Grand BanKet
Central(e), the City of Brussels' contemporary art venue located in the old electric generating plant on Place Sainte-Catherine is celebrating its 10th anniversary with an inclusive project by Françoise Schein. 120 people from the neighborhood have produced a work of art consisting of ten ceramic tile-covered tables, after attending workshops that included philosophical advisers. Each person was allocated four tiles to decorate with their ideal meal. The project to be permanently installed in a public space will first be located on the Black Tower half of Place Sainte-Catherine for three months opening with a big public banquet Sunday June 26th at noon with food, drink and music and with all the participants in attendance. Everyone is invited.

Folon statue in Knokke
A statue of a man sitting alone on the sand has returned to Knokke-Heist beach this summer, two years after it had to be removed for restoration. Belgian sculptor Jean-Michel Folon - who grew up in the seaside town - wanted his work to be submerged with each tide, but it was badly damaged during a sand replacement programme. Knokke-Heist mayor Count Leopold Lippens talks about the restoration.

Jokes about Europeans
Our colleagues at Bruzz International meet Romain Seignovert. Convinced there is more to Europe than 'technocratic language', the Brussels-based French-man has just published a book about jokes Europeans tell about their neighbours. De Qui Se Moque-t-On (Who do we make fun of?) includes 345 jokes, contributed by readers of Seignovert’s blog, Europeisnotdead.
