It took much too long for the music press to figure out that Oasis were yesterday’s glory. But between 1993 and ’96, there was no stopping the band made up of the bickering brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher.

We remembered three things from this documentary, which is named after their first hit: the speed at which Oasis exploded from being a garage band to a super group that 2.6 million fans wanted to see at Knebworth in 1996; the Gallaher brothers still don’t mince words; their pranks, fights, and gibes at all the wankers in the world contributed as much to their incredible success as their stadium hits “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova”. This long docu certainly gives fans their money’s worth. Non-fans will have to take account of its limitations. This film is only about the success of Oasis. The cultural-historical Britpop phenomenon remains unexplored and Blur is mentioned about as little as the many years that Oasis was only a shadow of its former self.
