Last year, Aleksandra Chaushova stunned us with her tiny but imposing solo show “The Object and His Father: A Bug Story” at Jozsa Gallery. The exquisite work of the Bulgarian, Brussels-based artist can currently be admired both at Museum M in Leuven and the Brussels contemporary art centre MAAC.

The new drawings that she is presenting combine technically masterful precision with semantic complexity. In “The Perfect Kiss”, her research into power structures, ideologies, and the metaphors that they create at the intersection of fact and fiction culminates in a focus on bureaucracy and what a stapler, perforator, or stamp might signify or suggest.
