These days everything seems to be about being tough and loud, so it can’t hurt to listen to voices who really have something to say. Like Valeria Luiselli’s, for example.

Since the publication of her book Tell Me How It Ends, this New York-based Mexican author has been a profoundly human antidote to all the attention-seeking, tweeting, and trolling. She expands on that story about her time working as a court interpreter for undocumented children facing deportation in New York City in her novel Lost Children Archive.

The New York Times described it as a “mold-breaking new classic”. Hopefully it will also break a few closed minds.
