Out of sight out of mind? Fuck that! True love is eternal, and it is impossible to describe the public’s relationship with Cultures Maison except in terms of immortal passion.

After a sabbatical year, the only real Brussels festival for contemporary comic strip art is back with edition number eight, and that warms our heart. Cultures Maison still stands for cutting-edge comics, graphic and narrative experimentation, raw beauty, and an infectious, indestructible faith in freedom, quality, dialogue, and innovation. You will discover all this at the fair where independent publishers like Frémok, Adverse, Bries, Misma, Atrabile, and FLBLB are putting their heart and soul into presenting their paper gems to the pubic. Or at the screening of Canadian artist Obom’s breath-taking animated shorts, the concert by The Vaporellas who are performing “a subtle mix between The Ramones and Lady Gaga”, or at the exhibitions.
This year, they are not only showcasing the inflamed nasal canal of the Canadian-Brussels Rebecca Rosen, but also work by Indie Americans like punk god Derf Backderf, Charles “The End of the Fucking World” Forsman, and Noah “Blammo” Van Sciver, master projects by ESA Saint-Luc students Nausicaa Gournay and Ronan Chabrat, and the form experiments by L.L. de Mars. To extend our reunion a little more, Cultures Maison is also occupying Bibliotheca Wittockiana with Ainsi Dire (30/9 > 20/1), an exhibition in which Christophe Poot, Florian Huet, and Fauve d’Or winner Éric Lambé express their love for you.
