2018 was undoubtedly the year of Fortnite, the popular third-person shooter that conquered playgrounds, football pitches, and social media with its wacky dances. But there is more to gaming than “taking the L”.

In the exhibition Games and Politics, Iselp is avoiding Fortnite, Call of Duty, and God of War and focusing instead on games like This War of Mine and Coming Out Simulator, which use their interactive potential to tackle complex contemporary questions like: How would you survive as a civilian in a war zone? And would you dare to come out to your parents or friends? Gaming gets political.
