Wash Westmoreland knows that you would need three seasons of a TV series to do justice to the life of French author Colette (1873-1954), and his lively but perhaps rather idolizing biopic is therefore limited to her marriage to Henri Gauthier-Villars.
The hedonist introduced her to the society circles of the belle époque and initially took all the credit for her hyped Claudine novels. It is a pleasure to watch how Colette (Keira Knightley at her best) emancipates herself.
