The Model Quarter in Laken/Laeken has often been the backdrop for films and TV series. In the debut Étangs Noirs, which has been picked up by the film festivals of Ghent and London, it is much more.
The young Jimmy receives a package that was intended for a woman in one of the other apartment buildings. Delivering this package becomes an adventure across the Model Quarter and the metro. The everyday is depicted threateningly. Étangs Noirs is not perfect, but it does manifest a genuine vision of cinema.
