There are not many suspects for the murder of Edward Ratchett, since the number is limited to the travellers in a luxury car of the famous Orient Express, which is forced to a halt in a blizzard.
Kenneth Branagh directs himself as Agatha Christie’s world-renowned sleuth Hercule Poirot and ventures into a series of wild chases and violent confrontations. Branagh has the mastery required to limit the doses of humour, kitsch, and nostalgia. Less corny than we feared.
