Film: The Square

Ruben Östlund studies people in their environment and sneeringly highlights their herd reflexes and other behaviour that shows that we are much closer to apes than we like to think.

In the Golden Palm-winning The Square, we not only see a satirical take on the art world, but also on the media and even the Swedish monarchy. Not every scene is equally merciless, but thanks to the many astonishing tableaux, you never notice that this film takes almost three hours.
