Brian Henson has made a jocular comedy using the kind of fluffy puppets that his father popularized in The Muppet Show. But there is no reason to complain: coarse puppets and jokes can sometimes be hilarious too.
The problem is that The Happytime Murders only manages to be funny a handful of times and that the plot is very, very thin. A puppet and a foul-mouthed police detective are hunting a serial killer who is putting all the puppets from a popular TV series out of their misery. Does that make you happy?
