As a child, Michel Gondry wanted to be an inventor, but he ended up in cinema. Thank goodness, because the works by the brilliant bricoleur, whose career started with music videos for Oui Oui, Björk, Radiohead, and Daft Punk, sparkle with inventiveness.
Since 2001, Gondry has been involved in the most diverse film projects, ranging from his debut Human Nature to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Be Kind Rewind. Cinematek is programming a retrospective and a carte blanche. And in his Film Factory at Kanal – a travelling recording studio in which you can make your own film – Gondry is giving a masterclass.
