For the second year in a row, Brussels will be celebrating the European Day of Languages by awakening underground travellers to the poetic potential of their routine trips. With Transpoesie, the network of European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and the MIVB/STIB, will be making our daily commute a bit less straightforward and uneventful thanks to the underground poems by writers from all over Europe, like Julia Bird (UK), Vasco Graça Moura (PT), Onno Kosters (NL), Mevlüt Ceylan (TR), Luna Miguel (ES), Radu Vancu (RO), Xóchil A. Schütz (DE), Søren Ulrik Thomsen (DK), Gueorgui Konstantinov (BG), Eric Piette (BE), Giovanni Pascoli (1855-1912, IT), and Aleš Šteger (SI). Above ground, there will be a festive kick-off of the project at Passa Porta on 26 September, with a selection of the participating poets. And on 25 October, Czech writer Jan Jílek, Estonian poet Jürgen Rooste, Stéphane Bataillon from France, and Hungarian author Lackfi János will be at the Botanique for a special performance. We'll be keeping our eyes open wide for that poetry in motion!
