After the frivolous Danish synth-pop collective Efterklang took a break, the spin-off Liima was initially just going to be a one-off.
Liima at Ancienne Belgique: Scandinavian spiin-off
Their debut ii appeared in the spring of 2016, but the musicians enjoyed themselves so much that they have already released a follow-up: 1982 (which also happens to be the year singer Casper Clausen was born).
The synths again battle with the cutlery canteen of Finnish percussionist Tatu Rönkkö. This results in tense, lively, and occasionally claustrophobic material, co-produced by Chris Taylor from Grizzly Bear, who joined them at the Ancienne Belgique last autumn.
