Nixie's: a night-time rock ‘n’ rollercoaster

Are you sick to death of dancing all night long to monotonous techno drones, hipster beats, ultra horny R&B, or stale top-of-the-pops hits? If so, perhaps Nixie’s is a good alternative. As long as you don’t mind a decent guitar chord or psychedelia trip, though that may vary somewhat musically. The parties have been organised for three years and swap locations as often as Don Juan swaps girlfriends. They’ve been at Madame Moustache, the Beursschouwburg, and the Bonnefooi music café. And for this edition, Les Ateliers Claus is opening its doors to a whole night of fun. The evening begins early, in nightlife terms. The doors open at 9 pm, and the first live set starts one hour later. Elko Blijweert of the Tone Zones earned his stripes with Dead Man Ray, Kiss My Jazz, and Franco Saint De Bakker, and you’ve probably seen Milan Warmoeskerken’s at work with Mittland och Leo and Flying Horseman. Together, they perform surf music with a heavy beat, the ideal warm-up for the DJs of Finders Keepers. The British record label is sending over no fewer than six of its artists, though there might even be more. The most famous name in the bunch is undoubtedly chief Andy Votel. He and his retinue are coming directly from a record fair in Utrecht to offer you some musical delicacies. From Hungarian prog rock to Iranian rock ‘n’ roll, Turkish folk, and Thai beats. One thing is certain, these are excellent DJs who drag everyone onto the dance floor. The Wild, who you can hear with Funky Bompa every Sunday on FM Brussels, are bringing out their record players. A night-time rock ‘n’ rollercoaster!
