La Pouletterie is the creation of Frédéric Antoine, who raises chickens near Lustin. It offers “farm to plate” cuisine in the rough setting of a former garage, which he rapidly converted with chef Alexandre Moormann.
The approach is DIY, the food served on recyclable cardboard “plates” but, from the first mouthful, we knew we would be coming back. We ordered a quarter of a chicken with chips (€8), adding a “side” of roast tomatoes (€3) and the excellent Château de Bioul sparkling wine, Brut des Houillères. The chicken was delicious, a real farm chicken that was firm but moist. The chips were some of the best we have tasted in Brussels.
