De Meesterwerken: 'Marat not represented how he really was'

It's a classic from the French revolution: 13 July 1793: the fanatic politician and journalist Marat, from the Robespierre camp, was killed by Charlotte Corday, who was a moderate. In David's work, Marat is respresented as a martyr who gave his life for the sake of the people. You can admire the painting at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts.
