For the first time in nine years, Matt Damon is returning to the role of Jason Bourne, the deadly amnesiac spy. Paul Greengrass, the director of The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), was likewise interested in another adventure about the extremely violent but good-natured brute.

It will be no easy task to live up to the huge expectations and to deliver a film like all the earlier instalments: a credible thriller with nail-bighting action scenes that also provides insight into the chaotic power games that have a stranglehold on the world. There is certainly no lack of inspiration. The world has not become any more stable over the past nine years. And we have no reason to fear any less the all too powerful and secret security services that are susceptible to corruption.
