Whoever assumed that the Swedish singer Karin Dreijer would restrain herself after she blew up her ornery union with her brother Olof has been proved terribly wrong. The Knife may be no more, but the electro pop militant continues to provoke us as Fever Ray.
The fact that she is using her body (and lust) more than ever is apparently the consequence of her divorce and the sexual liberation to which it led. The result is infectious, stimulating electro, as we hear on the solo record Plunge.
In these #MeToo times, this full-blooded feminist does a little extra in her live shows, surrounding herself with a completely female band, with Scandinavian, Iranian, Peruvian, Colombian, and Argentinian roots.
If you didn’t manage to snap up one of the tickets for her sold-out concert at the AB, she will also be performing at Werchter on 8 July.
