World-renowned photographer brings images of European refugee emergency to Brussels

06/12/2017

In 2011, Giles Duley lost both legs and his left arm while photographing American troops in Afghanistan. 37 surgeries later and after one year in hospital, he went back to his day job.

While in Brussels for a short visit recently, the Englishman called the EU's handling of the refugee situation a shambles and described how even the most hardened war photographers were reduced to tears on a daily basis in Lesbos.

The Giles Duley exhibition "This is Europe, This is now" exhibition will run until 20 May at the European Economic & Social Committee in the EU quarter of Brussels.
