On Saturday thousands of enthusiastic visitors will once again flock to the city’s museums for Museum Night Fever. This sixteenth edition offers a hundred activities in 23 participating museums. In total, some 500 young city folk from various schools and associations – who were actively involved in drawing up the programme – will lay on extra activities to complement the permanent collections and current exhibitions. Guided tours, for example, as well as concerts, dance and theatrical performances, workshops, video and DJ sets, and even fashion shows. The evening will be brought to a close with a great big Bulex after-party, which this year takes place in the Brussels Event Brewery in Molenbeek. The party will be spread over six spaces: the Bulex room (with a DJ set by Tom Barman), the Balkan Trafik room, the Rock Me on Electro room, the FM Brussels room, the Reservoir Dub room, and the Tringle room. All evening long while the event is under way, free MIVB/STIB shuttle buses will link the various museums, which include big names like the Centre for Fine Arts (Bozar), the Cinquantenaire/Jubelpark Museum, Wiels, and the Museum of Natural Sciences, as well as less well-known venues like the art)&(marges museum for outsider art, the Museum of the National Bank of Belgium (where street musicians will perform), and the Museum for Fantastic Art. Three museums are joining in Museum Night Fever for the first time: the Museum of Letters and Manuscripts, the Parlamentarium at the European Parliament, and Cinematek. Eye-catching projects include the fashion show staged by fashion students in the dinosaur gallery of the Museum of Natural Sciences, circus acrobats at Autoworld, and the murder game Cluedo at the Museum of the City of Brussels. The public will also be able to look and listen to poetry, performances, videos, and music at eight outdoor locations. Students from Brussels art schools will become “picture whisperers”, guiding blind or partially sighted visitors on their route through the museums. The complete programme can be found on the website. Until the end of March, a Museum Night Fever Pass will give you the right to one extra visit to one of the participating museums.
