In the face of the end of the world tomorrow, we could all do with some kind of superhero. At Seed Factory, the exhibition “Super & Co” is zooming in on that supernatural being with unworldly abilities and an unbearable life in the twilight zone between spotlights and shadows. Though you could very well be heading for disappointment, since the supermen at Seed Factory tend to be slightly clumsy, grand patriotic vigilantes with limited powers and badly-cut costumes. The grand Alan Moore’s Watchmen already showed the dark – or should we say human – side of those we consider to be our heroes, and of ourselves and our condition to swiftly accompany unlimited awe with a fall from grace. And even Daniel Clowes took the (un)lucky finder of his Death-Ray to a dubious place where a sense of responsibility collides with more primitive emotions. Go watch the Watchmen! If you don’t, then who will?
