Ty Segall released four albums this year: a compilation of singles, a collaboration with White Fence (the warm-up band at Autumn Falls), the Slaughterhouse album with the Ty Segall Band, and, just over a month ago, the new full-length record Twins. You could say a lot about the long-haired guitarist from San Francisco, but you can’t accuse him of being workshy. This garage rocker is extremely talented. Agreed, he paid close attention to the most psychedelic trips of the Beatles and the Stooges, but the unbridled enthusiasm with which he combines a work ethic seldom seen nowadays with the best fuzz rock we’ve heard in years, is very refreshing. Loud, honest, and intense.
