Every year in April, the city goes all out to show the world it has what it takes to provide an international public of art sellers, buyers, and lovers with their kicks. A look at the other fish in the pond.

Art Brussels
22 > 24/4, Thurn/Tour & Taxis
Every year, the giant among Brussels’s contemporary art fairs carries a whole urban art scene in its wake, and as a global art fair fixture is at least one of the reasons for the growing international reputation of Brussels as an up-and-coming hotspot for contemporary art. The 34th edition is also the last edition to be held under the auspices of Katerina Gregos, who has been artistic director for four years. She is saying farewell with, among other things,“Cabinet d’Amis”, an exhibition of selected works from the collection of the late Belgian curator Jan Hoet.

Poppositions
21 > 24/4, LaVallée

The fifth edition of this “experiment with the art fair format” gathers 25 projects, presenting over 50 artists at LaVallée in Molenbeek. The place to be if you want to be on “The Wrong Side” of the art market. Yes, that is just the title of this year’s edition.

Off Course
21 > 24/4, Dynastie building,
This young contemporary art fair had to leave Thurn/Tour & Taxis to the 140 galleries of Art Brussels, but its building blocks will remain unchanged at the Dynastie building: geniality, accessibility, and a genuine dialogue with a young generation of artists, most of them straight off the benches.

YIA Art Fair
21 > 24/4, Louise 186

Since 2010, the YIA art fair has been introducing “Young International Artists” in Paris. The sixth edition is crossing the border and in Brussels is coming to Louise 186, the six-story building at Louizalaan 186 avenue Louise.
