Looking for film screenings in the open air? Here are some tips!

Does Bruxelles fait son cinéma still need an introduction? The formula has stayed exactly the same for this, the thirteenth edition. Which is fortunate because the concept is commendable. Films are screened in the open air in public spaces in eleven different municipalities. All for free. The screenings start at dusk. Southern food and drinks are available beforehand. The dream? Bringing locals together, making people discover lesser-known squares, watching people enjoy the multicultural city. Oudergem/Auderghem is kick-starting the series on 9 July with Camille redouble, a well-received, fantastical comedy by and with Noémie Lvovsky. Sint-Joost/Saint-Josse is closing the event on 19 July with Le capital, an ardent indictment of bankers who wreak havoc on society. For the best films, we recommend you go to rue Mommaertsstraat in Molenbeek (El Gusto is the Algerian Buena Vista Social Club) or to the Cour de l’Espace Toots in Evere (Dans la maison, an Ozon-esque psychological thriller).

Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe/Woluwe-Saint-Lambert is having a party throughout the summer. Every Wednesday, the Vrijetijdsplein/place du Temps Libre will be transformed into a free open-air cinema. The programme features a few excellent films: Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson, Goodbye Morocco by Nadir Moknèche starring Lubna Azabal in a brilliant performance, and Skyfall, one of the better James Bond films.
