Stephen King’s stories have often resulted in excellent films, but this summer, something is going horribly wrong. Following The Dark Tower, also It is a disappointment.

Andrés Muschietti has thrown every horror cliché at the script, and killed off whatever tension might have remained with shrieking violins. Chapter One focuses on the adventure of seven traumatised teens, thereby missing out on the essence of the story about It/ the clown Pennywise who terrorises a town every 27 years. Will Chapter Two do better?

> US, dir: Andrés Muschietti, act: Bill Skarsgård, Finn Wolfhard, Nicholas Hamilton
