Will we laugh at this acid-tongued, one-room film as loudly as they’re doing on the other side of the Channel? The Party relies on a barrage of barbed one-liners that are difficult to translate and which require some familiarity with British mores.

Kristin Scott Thomas plays a politician who invites some friends and questionable allies over to celebrate her promotion to the shadow cabinet. Everybody behaves badly. The perfect film to get in the mood for the imminent family get-togethers.
