New releases 24/10

Seven new releases this week, featuring - among other things - Haneke's second Golden Palm, the heroic little African Kirikou, pink princesses and endearing unicorns, a revival of the Eighties, and Bond, James Bond!

FR, 2012, dir.: Michael Haneke, act.: Emmanuelle Riva, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Isabelle Huppert, 127 min.
NL | Na een beroerte belooft Georges Anne het ziekenhuis of rusthuis te besparen maar het aftakelingsproces is wreed. Hanekes tweede Gouden Palm is lucide, wars van pathos en daarom eens zo aangrijpend.
FR | Après un accident cérébral, Georges promet à Anne de lui épargner l’hôpital ou la maison de repos, mais le processus de décrépitude est cruel. La deuxième Palme d’Or d’Haneke est lucide, hostile au pathos et pour cela d’autant plus poignante.
EN | After a stroke, Georges promises to spare Anne a life in the hospital or a retirement home, but her deterioration is cruel. Haneke’s second Golden Palm is lucid, has minimal pathos, and is therefore all the more gripping.

NL | De 23e Bond wil tegelijk vintage, spannend, grappig, modern zijn en knipogen naar de andere films uit de 50 jaar oude franchise. Dat is soms te veel van het goede. Maar je verveelt je niet.
FR | Le 23^e Bond se veut à la fois vintage, captivant, drôle et moderne, mais entend aussi faire des clins d’œil à d’autres films de la saga cinquantenaire. C’est parfois un peu too much, mais on ne s’ennuie pas.
EN | The 23^rd Bond tries to be vintage, exciting, funny, modern, and packed with nods and winks to the other films in the series’ 50 year history, all at the same time. It is sometimes a bit much, but there is not a dull moment.
