Sir shows that the abhorrent Indian caste system has still not been destroyed. But it is also a romantic film about the impossible love between two lonely souls in Mumbai: the son of a rich family and his housemaid.
This does not sound particularly ground-breaking, but this delicate film debut does charm you a little more scene by scene. This is partly related with the goodness of the characters and with their willingness to help each other despite social convention. Reality is hard but not hopeless.
