'Venom: Let There Be Carnage': alien blubber with superpowers

© RV

Venom is an alien blubber with superpowers and an insatiable appetite for food that is alive. To survive on Earth, he needs a host and his choice falls on an investigative journalist. The two bicker like an old couple but are dependent on each other. Especially when Carnage is around, an alien symbiote that feels at home in a serial killer.

Superhero bombast constructed around an anti-hero, an overdose of dark CGI and bland jokes: the press was not kind on Venom in 2018, but the film racked up $856 million nonetheless. The sequel accounted for the best opening weekend in America since the start of the Covid crisis. Eat that!
