Wild women at Cinematek

Offscreen is more than just the yearly Brussels festival for cult films in March. Every last Friday of the month, two members of their crew dig up a few rarities from the catacombs of Cinematek. After having zoomed in on Fascism and Erotica, and on Space Vampires, tonight they will be focusing on Amazons. In Le guerriere dal seno nudo ("the warriors with bare breasts"), better known as The Amazons (7 pm), you can follow the adventures of a tribe of angry, lesbian man-haters. Director of the film is Terence Young (Dr. No, Thunderball), at the time of this vintage grindhouse flick full of unintentional humor, ridiculous dialogue, and insane wrestling matches, clearly past his peak. Equally crazy is Sheena: Queen of the Jungle (10 pm), in which Tanya Roberts - one of Charlie's Angels - is running about on a horse painted like a zebra. Besides being able to ride a zebra, Sheena is also very skilful at styling her hair, shaving her armpits in a sensual manner, and at communicating telepathically with the other animals in the jungle!
