In Crystal, the Belgian rockabilly scene has a new star. This young lady has it all: looks, good taste in vintage clothing, and a voice with the right twang – and she clearly knows the classics of the genre.

Crystal and Runnin’ Wild rock

Not really that surprising, as she is the daughter of rocker and style icon Patrick Ouchène, the man behind Runnin’ Wild and lots of other rockabilly groups. Add drummer Johnny Trash, another veteran of that particular scene, and Crystal has the ideal musicians with her. This mini-CD (with six tracks) is an ideal introduction. Rock ‘n’ roll, country, and swing are perfectly balanced and performed with the control of someone who sounds like she has years of experience behind her. Her versions of the Edith Piaf hit “L’homme à la moto” (penned by Leiber & Stoller) and the single “I’m So Lonely” show a strong personality, reminiscent of Wanda Jackson, Brenda Lee, and Imelda May.
