Django Django
indie pop (Because Music/Warner)

The band’s eclectic music is the same; starting from a minimalist rhythm – efficiently provided by drummer-singer-producer David Maclean – it burgeons into an irresistible mix of styles, beats, and grooves. It cannot be a coincidence that David is the younger brother of John Maclean, who used to be the keyboard player of the influential (and equally eclectic) The Beta Band. His simple cadence skilfully accompanies the catchy melodies that makes room both for Beach Boys harmonies and surf guitars and for DD’s typical cut-and-paste indie-pop, that has won us over by tickling us with cow bells, hand-clapping, guitar strumming, and bedroom electronica. But however colourful DD’s patchwork is, they never sound forced.
