Hallucinatory Party Tip: Urban Jungle

Traditionally, the Kunstenfestivaldesarts cannot occur without a few great parties, as artists and their audiences also like some diversion at the end of the day. This will not be a problem with the programme of Urban Jungle. Perhaps you have already seen the crazy music video of Kenji Minogue’s “Naam Familienaam”? It entirely consists of two Ghent-based girls jabbering two sentences: “Hoe is jouw naam?” (“What is your name?”) and “Mijn naam is An, ik ben van Zwalm en ik zeg ja” (“My name is An, I am from Zwalm and I say
yes”). According to the singers, the song is inspired by the many men who ask women their names in deafeningly loud clubs, requiring the repetition of the question. The absurd text is underscored by a simple electro tune, but it makes the song catchy as hell. Their second single is now also ready, but even more importantly, they will be performing onstage for the first time. They will play a few live songs and a dirty DJ set. We are expecting nothing less than a hallucinatory act that makes our eyes pop out of our head and will ring for days afterwards. You can expect heavier beats from The Groovefather and Doctor Lo by the mysterious Mafia Sauce Killers. The Brussels-based guys mix acid, techno, and mad monkey music, whatever that means. DJ Boykos, who is also from these parts, primarily performs uplifting house music and you will remember Giuseppe Casey from the former Another Late Night parties. Artistic dance moves or just going nuts, we suspect you can combine them at Urban Jungle.
