Party Tip: Ensemble

It was practically unthinkable that Ensemble would not be repeated following its successful first edition. Clearly, Brussels desperately needed a party focused on warm, high-quality house beats, and the Dutch DJ and producer Gerd turned out to be the perfect guest. This time, hosts Kong and Gratts, who you will also find on the popular online jukebox 22tracks, did not opt for a big, legendary headliner, but rather for the somewhat mysterious Xosar. The American who is based in The Netherlands only appeared in the picture this year, with a few releases on the reputable label Rush Hour and the relatively young L.I.E.S. label. She also collaborates with the house technician Legowelt under the pseudonym Xamiga. Xosar doesn’t use a laptop, but manipulates her sound with drum machines, sequencers, and samplers. You must admit that exciting live acts like that are few and far between in the electronic music scene. Another guest for the evening is Moomin, a popular DJ in Germany’s best clubs. He also knows how to give electronic music a warm and natural touch. Kong & Gratts were clearly very impressed by his debut The Story About You, which was released last year. He can really let himself go at Ensemble with a three-hour set. Without any exaggeration, it promises to be an extraordinary trip.

Ensemble 14/12, 22.00, €8/10, WINDOWS, rue Philippe de Champagnestraat 50, Brussel/Bruxelles, 02-550.03.50, www.beursschouwburg.be
