Party Tip: Los Niños

A lot of partying goes on in Brussels, our capital has a rich clubbing culture with a number of very fine elements we may be proud of. And yet, over the past few weeks there has been a spot of panic because there are too few venues for undisturbed partying, dancing, and raving. This is something organisers have been grumbling about for a while, but was recently expressed in an SOS call from the organisers of Los Niños. In the
past, they have been extremely creative in finding venues (e.g., Bains Connective and Anneessens metro station), but now there was simply nowhere to be found. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a place where you aren’t disturbing anyone, don’t have to pay heaps of cash, and that hasn’t already been flogged to death. A breath of relief filled our lungs last week, however, when Los Niños confirmed that they have now found a nice location. Granted, it is not the first time a party will be held there, but at least the hall has a rich history, which is now being written further with the no-nonsense party concept that has again managed to sign JD Samson as the main act. The American is involved in various art forms (often related to identity and gender), but became especially famous with two bands, Le Tigre and MEN. As a DJ, she alternates between house, electro, and nu-disco with a punk-funk edge. She is currently touring from the north of Europe to the south, and will stop in Brussels on Saturday.

Los Niños: Pop Rules, JD Samson & Whoo 9/2, 23.00, €10, Théâtre du Vaudeville, Koninginnegalerij 12 galerie de la Reine, Brussel/Bruxelles, www.losninos.be
