Party Tip: Tropical

With Darshan Jesrani of Metro Area and Gigamesh at Mr. Wong, legendary names like Robert Owens and Dimitri from Paris at Bazaar, Yuksek and Horse Meat Disco at Anarchic, and Mano Le Tough at a new edition of Catclub, it seems like this weekend is going to be unmissable for clubbers in Brussels. We are opting for a smaller event this week, however, which by no means implies it will be any less fun. Last year, DJ Funky Bompa rediscovered the well-hidden Osmo Club on boulevard Anspachlaan, very near place Fontainasplein. The small, cosy bar was located beneath the Slavic restaurant Marian. That restaurant has now become a trendy lunch bar. But fortunately, Jour De Fête kept the floor below where parties with the same name are organised on weekends. And this Friday, the party will consist primarily of tropical beats from the 1950s. If cumbia, African R&B, Indian disco, Ethiopian soul, and Cuban mambo are your thing, then the incredibly cosy Jour De Fête is your place to be. Funky Bompa earned the many stripes on his sweater at famous parties like The Twist (Madame Moustache) and Strictly Niceness, and in famous locations like Café Bonnefooi and Atelier210. What’s more, you’ll find him with a very peculiar selection at 22Tracks and on FM Brussel every Sunday evening. If you want to avoid big events and monotonous chart music, don’t miss this!
