A year and a half ago, Justine Bourgeus, the violinist of the Antwerp pop band School Is Cool, started composing her own tracks at home with her Logic Pro-software. Launched by the Amy Winehouse cover “Back to Black” at the side of Max Colombie of Oscar and the Wolf, two singles followed, “Escalate” and “Myth”, and the first EP will be released next week. Since her earlier fairy tales featured more tsars and sultans than princes and princesses, Tsar B – completely unhindered by false modesty – is now the reference point for her compelling trip hop that is immersed in oriental sounds, and FKA twigs-related, mystical R&B.

Tsar B, 4/5, 20.00, Ancienne Belgique
