For the ninth time, Danscentrumjette, the centre for contemporary dance in Brussels, is organising the Jetsummer Danceweeks, which this year is part of the Brussels Dance Summer to which P.A.R.T.S. and Workspacebrussels are also contributing.

In Molenbeek, the home of Danscentrumjette, professional dancers, amateurs, enthusiasts, and children are all welcome to attend the programme of performances, workshops, lectures, and a day of dance films. One of the programme’s highlights is Julyen Hamilton, who will present his piece Boarderland on 22 June. In the 1970s, the choreographer was one of the instigators of the radical experiment in performance art in London, and has continued to dance and teach ever since. He composes, choreographs, and writes “on the spot”, and that is no different in this production, which he has created with poet Billie Hanne and painter Catherine Jauniaux. On 20 June, Hamilton will discuss his years of experience as a choreographer and teacher as part of Jetsummer’s lecture series, in which choreographers who are leading workshops for professionals this summer will present their own work based on text, film clips of their work or other sources of inspiration, and dance. Other speakers include Julien Monty, Michaël Pomero, and Petra Hrascanec (Spider Group, Rosas, Sasha Waltz) on 11 July and David Zambrano (photo) on 18 July.
On 29 June, there will also be a party. From 10 am until 10 pm, the dance film festival L’Art Difficile de Filmer la Danse will take place. Dance films will be screened, selected by Stefanie Bodien and Wolfgang Kolb, the co-founders of Danscentrumjette, who as filmmakers made Rosas’s dance films in the 1980s. The festival comprises three sections: films about making choreography, recent dance films, and more historical dance films. The day includes breakfast and lunch, and in the evening you can enjoy the Jetsummer Ball.
