“To see something ordinary, something you’d see every day, and recognize it as a photographic possibility - that is what I am interested in,” Stephen Shore says.

Parked cars or a petrol station, these are the kinds of things he photographed on his road trip across America in the 1970s. We also find beauty in the everyday in the water towers by Bernd and Hilla Becher and the passport portraits by Thomas Ruff. Or in the two kids eating ketchup sandwiches under a bridge: a photo by Justine Kurland. Perhaps they are less commonplace but they’re certainly no less beautiful: the burlesque dancer Blaze Starr by Diane Arbus or the lusty teenagers by Larry Clark. Une Collection de Photographies is bringing together a whole series of famous photographers in an exhibition. It is a great warm-up for the Summer of Photography that will start very soon.
