“Twenty three years ago, I did an internship at the fanciest hotel of Brussels: the Conrad Hilton Hotel. After that, I was offered a job there, and that’s why I decided to stay."

"Later on, I met the father of my daughter Emma-Eva, and I was infatuated with him right away. We travelled together many times, but somehow we always came back to Brussels. It may sound crazy, but whenever I arrive at the North Station, and I see all the hookers, that’s when I feel at home."

"A couple of years ago my husband passed away, after which I asked myself: ‘Where do I go now?’ There are two places where I feel at home: the Netherlands Antilles and Brussels, but moving to the other side of the world would’ve been too much for me at the time."

"Ever since, I had worked for shareholders: suits, cocky men, who just act as they please. I had had enough, so I decided to change my tack: now I’m selling pillows and blankets on the Christmas market. So here I am, for the very first time, and so far I’ve enjoyed it all! Today my daughter came to help, and together we can take on the world!”

Humans of Brussels
