A 42-year-old soldier with severe post-traumatic stress disorder is discharged from hospital after many years. Returning to his apartment in Istanbul is not a happy event.
He is desperately lonely, and his ex-wife and daughter are reluctant to contact him. They are also marked by the past. The autumnal atmosphere – of the cold, weary kind, not the beautiful-coloured leaves kind – suits Blue Silence, the first feature-length film by Turkish-Kurdish/Belgian director Bülent Öztürk.
